WASHINGTON – On Thursday, President Joe Biden signed a presidential order establishing the zero-emission vehicle’s target, which accounts for half of all the vehicles sold in the U.S. until 2030.
Non-binding objectives are dependent on the massive federal charging stations and other infrastructure investments. This is part of Biden’s series of announced steps to accelerate a sweeping transition to Electric Cars as part of the different agendas of the government to compete with China, the electric vehicles market leader in the fight against climate change.
The White House predicts that new EPA requirements will lower fuel consumption by approximately 200 billion gallons, cut carbon emissions by 2 billion metric tons, and save consumers $900 over vehicle life. One official of the administration who asked that the countermeasure be discussed anonymously stated fuel economy and limits for emissions would raise the net income of almost 140 billion dollars over the life of the program.
