Amidst the craze for AI, and how it’ll replace workers, I decided to try out some in my field. Framer AI is a zero-code website builder that is supposed to generate and publish a website in seconds. If this were true then it would ultimately replace website developers. I sort out to see how good it would be for creating a website.
As in any experiment, you need a baseline. I recently created a website for a permanent makeup salon. The website involved coming up with the UI/UX for the client, getting it approved, and starting to build it out using Elementor site builder. We shall use this site as the baseline.
On the other hand, all we did for Framer AI was a simple prompt: “A sleek landing page for a permanent makeup clinic that offers 4 services with pictures, have a gallery below, use black and white as the colors”
I was impressed that from a simple prompt that it was able to spit out a website in seconds. On the other hand, as much as it can spit out content and place text boxes, it’s not there yet. But it’s on the right track. Building a website involves a lot more than just having colors and placing content on a page.
I reckon I have a few more years to earn from my skill. It might be months, as the speed at which these tools are advancing is astronomical. But if you’re in the tech field, try & learn to use these tools as early as possible.
